Residential park is a neighborhood of quiet streets and beautiful homes with large yards. It has above average safety from crime and is an excellent choice for retirees. Its residents are highly educated, and its homes have above average resale value. In addition, Trowbridge Park has some of the lowest rates of children living in poverty among neighborhoods nationwide.
The Hill neighborhood of Trowbridge Park was once home to one of the first Black schools in America, Mt. Pleasant School, founded in 1825, which stood just off Carlisle Street. The town was also a major textile center that produced silk, wool, and cotton for royal patrons ranging from Mary I to Elizabeth II. The town’s industrial heritage is preserved in the Trowbridge Museum at Home Mills, once a working factory.
At the door and on front steps along Portsea and Salem Streets in the Trowbridge Park area of the Hill, Mayor Justin Elicker heard one clear message over and over again as he canvassed voters last week: housing costs are their top issue.

Elicker’s administration is working hard to address this need and recently announced that the city would purchase a Days Inn hotel on Foxon Boulevard to convert it into 112 emergency beds, adding them to Columbus House and Upon This Rock Ministries, which already have about 50 beds each.
